This is the story of how the Mercedes-Benz USA, the marketing arm of Mercedes-Benz/Daimler, a German automobile manufacturer, has transformed itself to be customer driven and focused as a company. In today’s high-line automotive world there are a lot of great products and manufacturers to choose from, engineering, technology, styling are all factors, but in the end the real deal-closer is customer service.This book talks about MBUSA’s CEO, Steve Cannon, the American who has headed up the US Marketing arm of the company since 2007, and took over as President and CEO of MBUSA in 2011, and his program of implementation of moving the company from a seller of automobiles, to the next level, a supplier to satisfied customers. Mercedes-Benz feels that providing exceptional and personal service is a hallmark of any leading brand, and with the “Best or Nothing” mantra follows through with that.The book at first seems to be more an homage to Cannon, as it mentions him in glowing terms, time and time again throughout the first half of the book. As you look into the author’s past work, you see similar Management and Marketing books about other companies that he has written, as well as he mentions them quite often in this book. And you get the feeling that this might be the result of being hired by the companies to produce these tomes. Stepping over the self-promotion and the flattery of MBUSA’s CEO Cannon, there are some very interesting case-studies as well as approaches to customer management that the company has developed and some which were discontinued, all laid out in the timeline of the study, as the book progresses.A program that developed, The Concierge Program, where other companies use the Genius title, MBUSA chooses to use the customer and service oriented title of Concierge, which is thought of more as a hospitality service position, than a technical trainer position. Saying that we are here to help the customer, as opposed to telling the customer the company employee is more knowledgeable than you are. Another program, of planning ahead for problematic issues with new models in their “MB Select” Program that came into existence as both the CLA and S-Class models debuted, knowing that there would indeed be issues that needed to be addressed as brand new models came to market, and giving the first responders, the dealership staff, that authority and responsibility to fix the problem and make the customer happy, without the hassle of layers of corporate approval.While the book is more like a first-year marketing student’s required reading, it is an easy read of 263 pages. The stories of success and a few failures goes by quickly with lead up, and responses. While the book does come across as an ego building exercise, it has a number of very interesting examples of programs that have worked and those that were tried and abandoned. I have read all Micheli's previous books and they were very informative and all have practical methods you can implement in your own dealings. This one unfortunately (to me) came across as an advertising copywriting job for MB USA. Most of the book is spent with words praising the ideas of the then MB USA boss (who has since left, unknown if it was his decision or a corporate push). I dealt with Mercedes as a vendor for many years during this time frame of the book and, from my personal experience, the employees did not "buy-in" to this philosophy. Just search Mercedes Benz Manhattan (their company owned dealership/flagship) and see the massive number of customer service complaints and how vehement their customers dislike them. This of course is not the book's fault; but in writing this book that all is rosy it becomes disingenuous at best for Micheli. I'd be interested to see if edits are made if/when another edition is released.

Purchased this as a present for my Father's birthday, and he loved it! He said that he really enjoyed the read and made him fall even further in love with a brand he now has even more respect for.

Motavational in nature, this book invigorates the reader to provide great aspects of the Mecedes Benz customer experience to their work place. I highly reccommend this book for a team reading exercise or any sales professional.

Very good, enjoyed the journey. This makes you think and rethink all of your own processes, looking for how each process and customer contact point can be improved. This should be shared with your entire team.

Very interesting book for Mercedes owners and others interested in how Auto dealers customer service works.

This is the first book I read form Michelli and it is one of those books you can grab as a guide to take action in your own business. Great read!

Most of the experiments are not worth it. I believe there's 5% of the book that is worth reading. I do not recommend.

No fluff or unnecessary fanfare here. How to Fossilize Your Hamster by Mick O'Hare takes you straight to the experiments—here's what you need, here's what to do and here's what to expect. The whole book is themed around a household so each experiment (e.g. Green Eggs and Cabbage) is meant for a specific location (e.g. The Kitchen).It might be a while before I get around to trying ALL of them, but I'm already enjoying the few experiments I have done.

About: New Scientist writer O'Hare provides instructions explains a multitude of science experiments that can easily be done at home.Pros: Very interesting, varied topics and experiments. Written in easy-to-understand language. My favorite topics included the best ways to get ketchup out of a bottle, how to test if talking on a cell phone affects your reaction time (it does), why hot water freezes faster than cold water, why your vision is blurry underwater, how to extract iron from cereal and DNA from yourself. Apparently, Alka-Seltzer can be used for several cool experiments.Cons: No sources cited. A further reading section would've been nice

I loved this book so much I need to buy one to keep for generations. I hope I can have fun doing some of these experiments with my children and someday my grandchildren. Easily understood scientific concepts in a visual display. Excellent!

The abstract about the book sounded good and I bought it. However, when I read it, it quickly became apparent that most of the science projects in the book were related to drinking. This is not for kids. It might be fun for a partying college student but, unless you're into drinking experiments, forget it. I sent this book back after examination. Skip it if you want information useful for a science fair project.

It was a very mean thing to title the book, "How to Fossilize your Hamster" and then tell us to bury the dead hamster and wait eons. . . My children wanted this book because of the title and that's the first page we turned to. [we do have a pet cemetery' in our back yard that they were ready to excavate] I have seen experiments with bones before, so it did not seem way out there. This was a total disappointment. While its a cute gimmick, a 'non-experiment' should not be the title for a book of experiments. I thumbed through the book and felt it had the same unthinking attitude through out. There are so many better experiment books out. . .deborah

I've been waiting for a book like this for a long time, and I was so excited to learn of it. And so my disappointment in the actual result was profound. While it's clear that Raskin knows the stories of the unbuilt lines in tremendous (even excessive) detail, the organization of the book is baffling, and the lack of maps and legible diagrams is unforgivable--especially since Raskin refers to the lines by their historic names (e.g., the Sea Beach Line instead of the N). This is an understandable decision, but it must make the book daunting for those who haven't internalized the old names. A list of lines and names in the back helps a little, but a map or series of maps would have made a huge difference.I know maps are expensive and that old ones often don't reproduce well. But Raskin needed to make the investment in new drawings to illustrate much of what he talks about. I'm very familiar with New York's transit geography, but I repeatedly had to go to other sources to figure out what he was referring to. The narrative structure is equally baffling, with stories coming and going in no particular chronological order. I can't imagine what a more casual reader would make of this.I really wanted to love this book, but I think only the most diehard of NYC railfans will get through this happily.

This is a wonderfully written, fascinating, book the parts of the New York City's subway system that were never built. If Seinfeld was a great television show about nothing, this a great book about how what seems like nothing tells us a lot about a great city.Raskin knows New York City intimately and his love for the city comes through on every page of the book. This love combines with knowledge to provide amazing insights into what the city could have been and into what the city should be. Vast stretches of the city are without subway service. Why? Were certain neighborhoods or certain population groups considered unworthy or undesirable while others were considered meritorious? Were residential neighborhoods less important than financial and commercial sections of the city? What have the consequences of these decisions been? What should be doing now? This important and eloquent book gives us some answers and raises more questions. It's fun reading for people who are interested in New York City but it's important reading for those of us who care about urban politics, urban economics, urban anthropology, urban geography, urban history and urban planning.

For anyone with a serious interest in the history of the New York City subway system, this book is a must have. The book cites many important references to substantiate the text in the book. It is a little disappointing that the book did not include discussions of the earlier steam and elevated. For example, The suburban extensions of the Manhattan elevated lines were never built, as shown on the February 1879 map in Harper's Weekly. When Brooklyn West End line was elevated, why was the route changed from that of the original surface line? One very perplexing question relates to the original 1885 Brooklyn elevated line (the "Old Main Line"). The Brooklyn Bridge construction began in the mid-1870's, and it was opened in 1883. Construction for the old Main Line must have begun in the early 1880's, when the Brooklyn approaches to the bridge must have been well known. So why was the terminus of the Old Main Line not re-routed from the Fulton Ferry to the Brooklyn Bridge approach?The book is replete with many logical examples of new routes, and route extensions that would have been highly beneficial to the riders of the New York City subways, but were never built, or as in the case of the Second Avenue Subway which is finally being built, is the subject of many cost saving measures, that limits its usefulness.However, one thing that detracts from the book is the poor quality of some of its illustrations.All-in-all, this book is an important addition the libraries of people with serious interest in the history of the New York subways.

Having been a subway rider and subway fan since the fifties, I always used to look out the front window whenever I could. Unfortunately full width cabs make that impossible now, but that's a different story. I always used to see those unused ramps and platforms and structures that should have had tracks but didn't. This book answered all my questions and filled in all the blanks. The quality of the many maps was disappointing, but maybe that's just in the kindle edition. This book is a "must read" for any NY Subway aficionado.

A thoroughly researched book rich in footnotes. The theme is largely political showing the conflicts between proposed routes, construction (subway vs. el), real estate developers vs. riders, private management (IRT and BMT) vs. city constructed and managed. (IND), and the conflicts between state and city. There were endless and enervating political delays which delayed construction of new routes for decades. The impacts of the great depression and WW2 are well drawn. One is impressed at the power held by various mayors, Robert Moses, and administrators who were advancing their own political agendas at the expense of sound economic and engineering considerations. These factors persist to this day. It is a wonder that the LIRR to the eastside, the extension of the 7 to the westside , and the initial phase of the 2nd avenue subway are underway despite the political and economic environment.On the negative side, the maps and figures are often poor copies barely readable with a magnifying glass. I wish for clearer and, perhaps, redrawn supporting artifacts.

Ashley and JaQuavis did a great job as always.I read a bit about Anari aka Tony in Supreme Clientele and had to find out more about her in Dirty Money.Anari started off as a good girl that turn bad after her son was murder by a woman that she became friends with Tiffany aka Shawna.Anari decided to start selling drugs with her best friend Tanya aka Monica. She was involved with Von a locate drug dealer that she didn't trust because she thought he knew Tiffany.So Anari set a empire for herself having Jesery think that Tony is a man when he really is a woman running things. Tanya goes to jail for murder but, before she gets locked up she started hating Anari alot for getting her into the drug game.Anari is fixed on finding Tiffany she does but, she also goes thou a lot getting shoot at by a man that was supposed to protect her. Almost getting shoot at in the hospital but, in the meantime Von put a hit out on Tony that he didn't know was Anari.Anari trying to kill Tiffany and Von trying to do the samething at the sametime.At the end it's horrible. But, A & J did great with Dirty Money as always they are great writters.

Classic and a Fav for sure. It's an older book , their first published book I believe so, if you read it now, don't expect the same literacy skills in them that you see today, in this book. They have grew as Authors. GREAT READ THO!!!

This book is a great read! This is my first time reading a book by Ashley & Jaquavis. Where have I been?! I ordered Dirty Money and The Cartel at the same time and decided to read Dirty Money first so I can start The Cartel, then the second, third, fourth and I noticed they're dropping the fifth top of 2014! I have to catch up! (sorry for the rambling) back to Dirty Money, this book was a page turner for me! I didn't like how Anari and Von were offed. I really liked those two together. Couldn't stand Tiffany, she should have been offed! I won't ruin it though. All in all, great authors! I look forward to reading more of Ashley & Jaquavis' books!

This finally completes my A&J collection and it was amazing, from the beginning to the end, I was left wondering if Tiffany really killed baby Maurice and if she really went back and took over the drug game. I think there's lots of room for there to be a sequel because so much was left a guessing game. I truly think that Anari didn't die and that Von pulled her out of the car before it exploded. But I guess that wouldn't explain the bodies being found, so maybe they did die?? I really liked this book and I'm happy that finally bought it!

Dirty money......didn't disappoint!!!! IT was a thriller and action packed!!!!!!!!!!.....however the ending was unbelievable....i had too read to last page 3times lol.....needs a part 2 ASAP

I'm not going to lie when I first started reading this book I wasn't feeling it but as I read on I couldn't put the book down. If your a Ashley and Jaquavis fan like me you need this book in your life it will not dissapoint. I Will Suggest To Purchase Supreme Clientele with this book because it finish off the story with a new addition.

I LOVE THIS BOOK! I cant keep it to myself so of course, I gave others to read. I know they will be saying the same as I did!

When I started reading this book it was a little slow to me. So I kept reading at it picked up in a great way. I really enjoying reading these book by the dynamic duo Ashley & JaQuavis. They tell a great story together. The book was a page turner at best. I never expected the book to end like that. I'm hoping for a part 2 in the near future. Great read.
