Where can I start? This book is amazing, full of glossy full color restored photos. From the guys that brought you the amazing startrekhistory.com website that has been a holy grail website for me and TOS fans alike. Comes the book that puts so much more of Star Treks lost history info sharp focus. This is a fantastic time to be a TOS fan. I very much appreciate the choices they made when putting this book together. Most books would have to chose which photos get shown in color and which get relegated to B&W (I'm sure a choice foisted on many authors because of the increased cost involved). These guys did not allow themselves to be limited by this choice and I am ever grateful for that. I would have happily paid a premium additional cost for this option. But I didn't have to, they are all here in glorious color. I cannot over state how excited I am to have this book. Worth every penny...bring on volume 2...lol.

A mildly interesting book covering the behind the scenes FX shots, deleted scenes, bloopers and other things that didn't get onto the air in the original Star Trek series. All the photos come from film trims that Roddenberry stole from Desilu/Paramount (the studio didn't really care that he stole them since they were going to be thrown away anyway, but he didn't have their permission to take them either). They've been digitally cleaned up for presentation in this book. There are some interesting photos and background info, but the authors also get some stuff wrong as well. If you're a big Trekkie you'll probably find little new in this book, but you'll enjoy the photos.

There Is some good stuff here, some nice restored film clips and so forth, but there is a lot of info here that was already known. To be honest, I breezed through the whole book in less than half an hour and was done. The title The Lost Scenes even seems a bit misleading, I’d say less than half the book is devoted to deleted scene clips with a page or two of dialogue each, but again, anybody who read James Blish’s books back in the day already knew these scenes and nothing revelatory for the type of fan that is interested in this book.

I've been a ST nerd since forever, and have purchased a LOT of books about T.O.S. They're usually disappointing - slick repackages or updates, with photos and tired information. This book is refreshingly different. Consists largely of 'trims' from the original film stock, the 'lost scenes' don't and never could exist as anything other than still photos. So this has: a lot of photos (never before seen), a lot of backstage, a few from the 'blooper' reels. High quality printing. One of the best things is the technical explanation section where it explains and shows illustrations of the animations, rotos-, dissolves, garbage mattes and blue screen shots that went into making an episode. New photos, new information. I'd recommend.

Simply put. Any die hard Star Trek TOS fan, absolutely NEEDS to HAVE this. You'll never forgive yourself if you don't get this!

Lots of never before seen pics and scenes from the original Star Trek. My main complaint would be that I have seen plenty more “lost” images online that deserved inclusion in this book. Perhaps a second volume may be in the works?

I’m a Trek expert so I was hoping for a bit more - like how were the sound effects made? They go into visuals, but that’s only half of it. There was a bit more than other sources provide, but I didn’t learn much new. If you’re not an expert yet, this will definitely help.

Outstanding assemblage and restoration of film frames...with context to the episodes...highly recommended for classic Trek fans!
