I am truly impressed with the approach design for teaching Biblical Greek found in this book. The lessons are easy to follow and understand and it is not "too technical" for the student to grasp. I have found that "in 30 minutes a day" is a bit of exageration, however, the time spent with this book is negligible for the student who genuinely wishes to learn biblical Greek. I am thoroughly enjoying this book and I would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to begin learning biblical Greek. As the book itself states, this book will not make you a biblical Greek scholar, however, it will give you a very well balanced grasp of the language which will, in turn, prepare you for the more technical books which have been written on this subject.I HIGHLY recommend this book to the serious student of bible study.

I wanted to learn Biblical Greek by myself for quite some time but couldn't really get started with books like Basics of Biblical Greek (BBG) by Mounce. Everytime I got into a few pages of those books, I found myself seeing words I didn't recognize and couldn't pronounce in the examples. There were simply too many grammar rules and I couldn't really proceed because I couldn't "feel" the language. Trying to remember those rules were like trying to hang your coat but couldn't find a hook.I stumbled upon an older version of this workbook in our library. I worked into a few pages of that book and got hooked. So I came back and bought this version and worked through over 20 lessons (over 1/3 of the book). Yes, there are errors, quite a bit of them, in this book. Otherwise, I'd give it 5 stars without any reservations. Some of these errors I was able to quickly identify using the clues nearby, some I didn't realize until I looked the word up in a Biblical Greek lexicon much later. These errors came straight from the older version I saw in the library. So basically, the publisher simplied reformatted the book to a more manageable size and did no editing. Why 4 stars then? Because if you work on Greek by yourself, this is a perfect teacher to lead you into the door. Why didn't you finish the book, you might ask? After getting past Part I, which is the part that will get you into Greek, and getting into Part II, which is about endings, a bit, I thought the inaccuracy of this introductory work could be a problem. If I remembered the endings incorrectly now, I'm afraid I'll have a harder time to correct them in the future. So I decided to stop and give BBG another try. Now that I know the most basic part of the language, I found Mounce's book much more accessible, and the formerly intimidating rules are crystal clear now. BBG is not that hard after all.So I'd thank Basic Greek by Found for leading me into Biblical Greek, and give it a solid 4 stars.

I was interested in an introduction to New Testament (NT) Greek and this book more than fulfilled my wish. While the book gradually introduces you to the Greek alphabet and basic grammar, it begins almost immediately by teaching you how to read actual Greek words from the NT. It probably helped that I know the Cyrillic alphabet from studying Russian many years ago. I'm a Baby Boomer who likes to learn new things, particularly exotic languages, and this book stimulates my brain and is fun. I don't have the time and inclination to spend years learning NT Greek to the point of fluency, but you can get a lot out of language study without ever achieving fluency. Highly recommended.

Our pastor is conducting a class on biblical Greek. This text starts off by using Greek letters that look like English letters to spell English words so we can start hearing the sounds of the Greek alphabet and becoming familiar with them. Knowing the Greek alphabet is not necessary at first because the alphabet is introduced little by little throughout the text in a very intuitive way. This is not a college level Greek textbook. Its purpose is to give the student enough familiarity with Biblical Greek to be able to use other resources to enhance ones understanding of Greek based scripture. It could, however, be a good primer for one intending to take a College level Greek class. The only negative for me is that the pages are falling out of the binding as fast as I use them. Other students are not having that problem, so it is probably just an issue with my copy.I highly recommend this text for the absolute beginner in Greek who doesn't want to become fluent in Greek but wants to be able to use Greek language references to the scriptures and more deeply understand what the biblical authors were trying to express in their own human way.Basic Greek in 30 Minutes a Day: A Self-Study Introduction to New Testament Greek.

I started this book after taking a greek class with a coworker where I struggled through tenses and eventually got to where I could do some basic greek reading. This book has helped me a lot with pronunciation and the way that the author uses cognates helps with confidence. Most importantly, I look forward to working in this in the morning and the verses that the author uses to strengthen what you have done have helped me to see the benefits of this approach.

This is a good and helpful guide to getting started with Koine Greek, maybe directed more at reading/writing moreso than speaking. I like the hands-on approach that, from the first few pages the reader is actively involved in translating very basic greek letters (e.g. βατ = bat) and gradually progressed in difficulty. There are plenty of simple drawings that help with the memory work as well. For a complete novice like me, this is a good start.

I've studied and taught biblical Greek since the 1980s. This volume seems to be a good tool to supplement a standard grammar.
